COEUR - Competence in EuroPreneurship

In 2002 an initiative called ‘COEUR – standing for ‘Comepetence in EuroPreneurship’ (=European Entrepreneurship) was brought into being. The fathers of the idea, Matthias Eickhoff (University of Applied Sciences Mainz, Germany) and Andrew Turnbull (Robert Gordon University, Aberdeen, Scotland) formulated their vision:

”We want to organise a conference, where students from different universities, meet in an open atmosphere of initiative, creativity and responsibility to learn with experienced entrepreneurs and to establish a common basis for the entrepreneurial future in a Europe of regions, forming a nucleus for development and change, a junction in a quickly developing European business-culture.“

Since then a network of in the meantime six European Universities in Germany (Mainz), Scotland (Aberdeen), Portugal (Lisbon), France (Dijon), Poland (Wroclaw) and the Czech Republic (Prague) developed.

The COEUR network successfully establishes learning opportunities in the European higher education area having as outstanding goal the education of Competence in European Entrepreneurship.

Starting with the annual COEUR workshop since 2004, the conception and implementation of a university module called 'Business Creativity Module' followed and poses the greatest challenge to the network so far.
