Vita

MONIKA AICHELE is an illustrator and designer.

Educated at the Stuttgart Academie of Fine Arts she has been living and working in New York, Hamburg, Barcelona and Berlin for more than ten years. Now she is about to move her studio to Munich.

2008, after teaching and lecturing in New York, Stuttgart and Nürnberg she got a full professorship at the University of Applied Siences in Mainz, Germany.

Her work has been recognized by

American Illustration/NY, The Society of Illustrators/NY, The Society of Publication Design/NY, The Art Directors Club Germany, and many others.
She has been chosen as "young talent of the year" by Print Magazine/NY in 2000 and in 2008 the inflatables "Angry White Monkeys" she designed for Stefan Sagmeister got awarded as "Best of Show" by 3x3 /NY.

She does illustrations for the New York Times, Time Magazine and Die Süddeutsche Zeitung, Universal-Music and Deutsche Grammophon, she designs bookcovers and does murals - many of her Illustrations are silkscreened.

Her work has been shown at

  • Miami Art Basel,
  • at Deitch Project/NY,
  • in New York at the Art Directors Club,
  • the Six-Cities-Design Festival in Scotland,
  • at Centre Pompidou/Paris,
  • Shanghai Art Museum,
  • in Hamburg, Naples, Rom, Milano, London, Tokyo, Toronto,
  • Lisbon and Barcelona.
