Family friendly university

The University of Applied Sciences Mainz received an audit certificate naming it a family friendly university at the end of March 2007, as the fifth university in Germany, after having already received a basic certificate in March 2004.

The certificate was awarded by the berufundfamilie gGmbH, an initiative of the non-profit Hertie-Stiftung. This was presented to the President of the University Dr. Gerhard Muth by the Family Minister Dr. Ursula von der Leyen on 19th June 2007 in Berlin.

With this auditing, the university accepts responsibility in society for ensuring the working and studying conditions of parents with children, in order to promote expertise and also to make the university more attractive for women, thus increasing its competitiveness. Our overall goal is to promote the university’s image as a family friendly university.
