What is the ECDL?
General information
The European Computer Driving Licence is an internationally recognized certificate and is in Europe, the term "European Computer Driving Licence", just out ECDL ®.
Outside Europe, the certificate goes by the name "International Computer Driving Licence", ICDL ® shortly.The ECDL Foundation, a nonprofit organization based in Dublin ensures compliance with the uniform international standards. At the same time it represents the ongoing development of the certificate safely.
ECDL ® Certificate
The ECDL ® includes 8 modules, each of which ends with an examination:
Module 1: Basic Concepts of Information Technology (IT)
Module 2: Computer and file management (operating system)
Module 3: Word processing (Word)
Module 4: Spreadsheets (Excel)
Module 5: Database (Access)
Module 6: Presentation (PowerPoint)
Module 7: Information and Communication (Internet & Email)
Module 8: IT Security: Safe use of IT (data protection, firewalls, etc.)
The syllabus or curriculum content is clearly structured and based on recognized fields of knowledge and skills.
The ECDL syllabus includes not only practical skills associated with the application of well known computer applications, but also the necessary broad knowledge base that is consistent with some of the major IT-related concepts. With this knowledge base will ensure that candidates are able to apply these concepts in their daily work.
The required course content can be found in the current syllabus for the module 5.0 and 8 from the syllabus for IT security.
After four successful completion of testing, the participant receives a certificate ECDL Start, after seven tests, the ECDL Core Certificate.
