Competence centres
The University of Applied Sciences Mainz has two competence centres which are subsidized by the Ministry of Economics of the state Rhineland-Palatinate.
„Competence centre for spatial information technology of the arts“ of the Institute for Spatial Information and Surveying Technology of the University of Applied Sciences Mainz (i3mainz).
The competence centre enables cooperation with arts scholars at universities and significant non-university research institutes beyond the boundaries of schools and universities.
„Generative-filmic storytelling: development and implementation in media environments” of the Institute for Media Design of the University of Applied Sciences Mainz (IMG)
The term “generative” implies the working area of programmable design. The ever-growing influence of software in all areas of our social lives and artistic work urgently requires scientific reflection. The generative method is a topic which raises very interesting issues especially relating to new media and has been dealt with and further developed in various projects at the Institute for Media Design for several years.
