Women’s representative
Responsibilities of the women’s representatives
§ 2 Par. 2 of the University and College Act of Rhineland-Palatinate (HG) has the following wording:
"The Universities of Applied Sciences carry out their tasks in such a way that the basic rights of men and women for equal opportunities are guaranteed and any existing disadvantages for women are abolished."
This means in detail:
- The women’s representative is involved in all personnel decisions such as appointments, recruitment and promotion.
- She advises and supports female university members.
- She is involved in all organisational and social measures affecting female members of staff, e.g. working time, part-time, university structure plans...
- Constant participation in meetings of committees with advisory vote.
- She is involved in the development of promotion measures for professional further education and promotion opportunities of women.
- She is involved in the development of initiatives for increasing the proportion of women in all areas where women are underrepresented.
- She supports women’s research and the development of teaching in view of women’s issues.
- She prepares women’s promotion plans for the decision-making process of the senate.
- She works with the women’s representatives of other universities on a state and national level as well as in consortia within and beyond the university.
- The senate committee for women’s issues supports the women’s representative in carrying out her tasks.
