We are pleased to announce that the University of Applied Sciences located at Mainz, Germany is an approved ETS® Certified Test Administration Site (TOEFL iBT Test Center)

TOEFL iBT (Test of English as a Foreign Language – internet-based test)

TOEFL iBT is offered at the University of Applied Sciences Mainz from October 2007. Oder formats (computer-based und paper-based) are no longer used in Western Europe.

In the TOEFL iBT the following four language skills are assessed: reading, listening, speaking and writing in the English language and whether you are able to use these skills in a university setting.

Structure of the TOEFL iBT

  1. Reading 3 – 5 academic texts each with  12 – 14 questions 60 – 100 minutes 0 - 30 points
  2. Listening 4 – 6 listening exercises each with 6 questions; 2 – 3 dialogues each with 5 questions 60 – 90 minutes 0 - 30 points
    10  minutes break   
  3. Speaking 2 exercises (topic known + own opinion); 4 exercises (with reference) 20 minutes 0 – 4 points converted to 0 – 30 points
  4. Writing 1 exercise (with reference); 1 exercise (to support own opinion) 50 minutes 0 – 5 points converted to  0 – 30 points
